Kay as a Budding Photographer

Photography became a part of my life when I got a hand-me-down Kodak and was old enough to babysit to afford the film and developing. I guess I was about 12 years old and I cut off more heads than Henry the 8th. But I got better and would send off rolls of film and wait for my prints to come back along with that free roll of film. Some of those old black and white photos still remain in my scrapbooks.

I ventured into the realm of Polaroid cameras. My first one was one of those that took black and white images. You would have to wait for several minutes for the photo to fully develop and then to maintain the integrity of the image, you would have to coat it with some goo and let it dry. I graduated to an advanced instant camera, but eventually went back to the "normal" camera and took the rolls to the corner drug store.

I went through many different types of point and shoot cameras. My favorite was a Pentax 85. I took some super photos all over the US, Mexico and Ireland. I must say my abilities grew with that camera. My next step might have been the Single Reflex Lens camera, but I went digital. My first one was a 1 meg and I was so disappointed with the quality after the results I had had from my Pentax. I upgraded to a 3.1 and was more satisfied with it, but as my photography needs expanded - I wanted crisper enlargements, close-up and telephoto abilities. I finally bit the bullet and have ordered my Canon Rebel xti - 10.1 megs! It should arrive tomorrow. With a family reunion, wedding reception, and vacation coming this month. I hope I will be able to get acquainted with the camera enough to get some decent shots.
